Merriam Fall Playground Projects

MERRIAM, KANSAS (August 24, 2012) – The City of Merriam is excited to announce that Vavra Park (6114 Slater) will be getting a new playground! The old playground structure, installed in 1997, will be replaced by a new Playbooster Playground designed by Landscape Structures.

The new playground equipment will have a new shade structure that will keep all the play surfaces some 30 degrees cooler in the summer and protect the children from the summer sun. Three different slides as well as many different climbing features and platforms will make this playground a blast to play on. An advanced safety feature will be the Surface America poured in place safety surface that will be underneath the new playground. this project should be completed by the end of September.

Another project currently underway is the installation of new swings at Quail Creek Park (7024 Grandview Ave). This 8-foot arch swing set will feature two belt swings and two toddler swings designed by Landscape Structures. Safety surfacing will also be installed by Surface America. This project is slated to be completed by the end of September. This will be the fourth city park to get new swing sets to enhance the existing playgrounds in our parks.
