The Investment Game

Does investing intimidate you? Do you want to build a bigger nest egg for retirement? Take part in this exciting course to learn about investments and how they work? Class time will include investment choices, income and tax strategies, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and more. Learn how to analyze investments and measure risk. Also, You'll pick you own portfolio to follow thoughout the course with play money and compete for a prize at the end. This course meets three times on Tuesday evenings. 

Cleaning Healthy, Cleaning Green - Registration begins December 4

Want to make house cleaning a snap? K-State Research and Extension of Johnson County will provide time-honored recipes and suggestions to help make the switch toward safer household products. Instruction will also guide participants through an array of easy to make and effective household cleaners. Results will leave participants happily surprised!  This class is FREE. Country Dance Round Up

 - Registration begins December 4

For country music lovers! Come on down and learn how to take a whirl around the dance floor! This six week class will introduce you to the fundamentals of Two Step, Night Club Two Step and Country Swing. No partner necessary, both individuals and couples are welcomed to attend. 

Dance Because You Can!! - Registration begins December 4

Have you ever thought about learning how to dance with someone? Well here's your chance! Take the first step and sign-up for this six week class and learn the basic fundamentals of the Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Salsa and Swing. No partner necessary, both individuals and couples are welcome to attend. 

Hands Only CPR/AED Training - Registration begins December 4

This non-certification class is FREE and open to the public. Students will learn steps to become a life-saver, not just a by-stander, in an emergency by using hands-only CPR and an available automatic external defibrillator. Pre-registration is required. Hanging Basket Workshop - Registration begins December 4

"A simple flower, that's all it takes, for another soul to smile and wake." Merriam is lucky to have beautiful hanging flower baskets along the streets. Now everyone has the opportunity to make their yard happy by making a smaller version of the basket. All necessary supplies and instruction will be provided. Date is subject to change based on flower availability. Results may vary depending on weather conditions and care with no guarantee that flowers will flourish. Class is held at the Merriam Public Works, 6901 Knox. Pre-registration required. 

What's Cluckin' in the Hen HouseRegistration begins December 4

Here chickie, here chickie! In this workshop, learn about chicken behavior traits, feeding guidelines, local ordinances, coop maintenance and space, health issues for your "girls" and much more. There will even be a taste test of grocery store eggs versus home grown. Now that's something to crow about! Class is held at the Merriam Marketplace, 5740 Merriam Drive. Pre-registration required.
