Applicants for public safety positions may be subject to the following: physical fitness testing, polygraphs, background investigations, reference checks, psychological exams. Where inquiries into credit worthiness are conducted, the applicant will receive a copy of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

The application process consists of nine phases after turning in the City's full employment application.

1. Written test
2. Typing Test, Physical Ability Test, Application and Personal History Review
3. Tour of the City, Panel Interview
4. Polygraph
5. Background Investigation
6. Chief’s Interview
7. Conditional Job Offer
8. Physical Exam
9. Psychological Exam
   

Below are forms required for the application process.  The forms should be completed and returned when the applicant comes to the Merriam Police Department for phase 2 of the application process.
