POLICE REPORTS

Police reports can be made by citizens for incidents or accidents which occur within the city limits of Merriam.  Reports can be made in the following ways:

  1. Call 911 or the non-emergency dispatch number,           913-782-0720, and an officer will come to your location within the city limits of Merriam to take your report.
  2. Come to the Merriam Police Department where a Community Service Officer or a Police Officer can take your report.
  3. Some reports can be made by phone by calling the Merriam Police Department at 913-322-5560.  After speaking to a Police Officer or a Community Service Officer, it can be determined if the report can be made this way. These would generally be reports that require little or no follow-up or investigation.

After filing a police report, citizens can obtain a copy of the report after five business days.  There is no charge for victims to obtain a copy of an incident report. Copies of accident reports can be obtained for free by clicking the button below.

The following is a list of fees charged for reports and other services:

  • 35mm photos - $5 per picture
  • Digital photos - $10 per sheet
  • DVD's & Videos - $15
  • All other reports - $5

The Merriam Police Department also offers fingerprinting services by appointment only.  The fees for fingerprinting are as follows:

  • $10 for residents or citizens who work in Merriam
  • $25 for non-residents or citizens who do not work in Merriam
