Police reports can be made by citizens for incidents or accidents which occur within the city limits of Merriam. Reports can be made in the following ways:
- Call 911 or the non-emergency dispatch number, 913-782-0720, and an officer will come to your location within the city limits of Merriam to take your report.
- Come to the Merriam Police Department where a Community Service Officer or a Police Officer can take your report.
- Some reports can be made by phone by calling the Merriam Police Department at 913-322-5560. After speaking to a Police Officer or a Community Service Officer, it can be determined if the report can be made this way. These would generally be reports that require little or no follow-up or investigation.
- Some reports can be made online through the Online Reporting System. Follow the link for instructions and types of reports that can be filed online.
After filing a police report, citizens can obtain a copy of the report after five business days. There is no charge for victims to obtain a copy of an incident report. Copies of accident reports can be obtained for free by clicking the button below.
The following is a list of fees charged for reports and other services:
- 35mm photos - $5 per picture
- Digital photos - $10 per sheet
- DVD's & Videos - $15
- Fingerprints - $35
- All other reports - $5
- Criminal History Check - $5
- Research Fee - $25/Hour
- Car Seat Installation (Non-Merriam Residents) - $35
The Merriam Police Department fingerprinting services are by appointment only. Appointments should be made with one of the two Merriam CSO's by calling the Merriam Police Department at 913-322-5560.
