With Tuesday’s general election quickly approaching, the City of Merriam would like to remind and encourage residents to vote.

Polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on April 7th. For your convenience, area voting locations are listed below:

Merriam Celebrates Visual Art and Jazz

The City of Merriam, Kansas will host a unique art exhibition during the month of April at the Irene B. French Community Center art gallery (5701 Merriam Drive).

The mixed media exhibition “Many Voices: Studies in Art and Jazz” opens Saturday, April 4th with a reception from 5:30 – 8:00 PM and includes live jazz music, refreshments and an art auction.  The public is invited.  Proceeds from the auction benefit Merriam Parks, Recreation, and Community Center Foundation.

Twenty artists from the Kansas City Metro area will be exhibiting works that depict their impressions of jazz music.  Several artists will be painting on site.  All exhibited works will be for sale.  For a listing of the artists and preview of their work, visit www.merriam.org/park/Gallery.

Entertainment for the reception will be provided by Bram Wijnands, jazz pianist and UMKC Adjunct Professor, and “Just Friends” jazz group.

The exhibition, which will be on display from April 5th – 25th, is sponsored by The City of Merriam. Exhibition hours are: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, Saturday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Sunday 2:00 - 4:00 PM. There is no charge to view the exhibition or attend the reception.
