Merriam's Annual Spring Plant Sale Underway - Just in time for spring gardening! The City of Merriam is pleased to present our annual spring plant sale. Restricted to Merriam residents and businesses only, this sale features perennials and shrubs perfect for any landscape. You can view a list of the plants available in this year's sale, along with a catalog description, by visiting the City's website, www.merriam.org/plants. To order, bring the completed order form to City Hall during normal business hours (M-F, 8AM to 4:30PM). The City accepts cash, check, money order, or credit card. Completed orders can also be mailed along with payment to 9000 W. 62nd Terrace, Merriam, KS 66202. All orders must be received by Friday, April 10, 2009. Each customer will receive a receipt that must be presented when picking up your order on Saturday, May 9th, between 8:00 AM and noon at the Merriam Public Works Facility (6901 Knox). No early or late pick-ups are permitted. Contact City Hall at 913.322.5500 with order inquiries or the Public Works Department at 913.322.5570 with product questions. |
Merriam Celebrates Visual Art and Jazz The City of Merriam, Kansas will host a unique art exhibition during the month of April at the Irene B. French Community Center art gallery (5701 Merriam Drive). The mixed media exhibition “Many Voices: Studies in Art and Jazz” opens Saturday, April 4th with a reception from 5:30 – 8:00 PM and includes live jazz music, refreshments and an art auction. The public is invited. Proceeds from the auction benefit Merriam Parks, Recreation, and Community Center Foundation. Twenty artists from the Kansas City Metro area will be exhibiting works that depict their impressions of jazz music. Several artists will be painting on site. All exhibited works will be for sale. The exhibition, which will be on display from April 5th – 25th, is sponsored by The City of Merriam. Exhibition hours are: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, Saturday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Sunday 2:00 - 4:00 PM. There is no charge to view the exhibition or attend the reception. SAVE THE DATE: Merriam's Spring Clean-up Scheduled for April 20-24 Twice a year, the City of Merriam conducts a large item clean-up campaign for the residents in Merriam. The Merriam Public Works Department is responsible for this campaign, which occurs annually during the third week in April and October. The City's spring clean-up campaign will occur April 20-24, 2009. There are some restrictions on the materials the City will accept. For a schedule of the City's spring clean-up, click here.
