Overview
The Merriam Police Department welcomes all qualified applicants without regard to their race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, marital status, medical condition, or disability.

Applicants for public safety positions may be subject to the following: physical fitness testing, polygraphs, background investigations, reference checks, psychological exams. Where inquiries into credit worthiness are conducted, the applicant will receive a copy of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. 

Hiring Process

1. Video Test 
     • If desired, a practice test can be taken on the ErgoMetrics website at the applicant's expense.
     • Complete the Personal History Statement and bring it to the testing session to turn it in.

2. Written Testing/Applicant Processing

     • 20 Minute Writing Test 
     • Fingerprints
     • Photograph
     • Waiver Collection
          o PAT Waiver 
          o Consumer Report Waiver 
          o Authorization to Release Information 
     • Personal History Review
