Car Theft Prevention Tips
Many auto thefts occur because the owner or person in charge of that vehicle doesn't take the simple steps to secure the vehicle. Many times, the more difficult it is for the thief, the more likely it is that he will go somewhere else. Below is a list of simple things that can be done which may prevent you from becoming a victim of an auto thief.

  • Never leave your car running unattended, even in your own driveway, or just to run into a store for a short time. Many thefts occur with citizens leave their cars running in the driveway to warm up when it is cold outside.
  • Never leave your keys in the car or ignition.
  • Never leave your car unlocked or the windows rolled down, even if it's parked in your own driveway.
  • Never leave valuables in plain view. If you must leave them in the car, lock them out of sight in the trunk.
  • When possible, park in high traffic, well lit areas.
  • Install devices that lock the steering wheel.
  • Don't leave the vehicle title in the car.
  • Install an alarm.
