Chatlain Park
Chatlain Park ShelterChatlain Park is located at 6300 Carter Avenue.  One of Merriam's most active and beautiful parks, named for John Chatlain who served as a Merriam City Council member for 31 years.  This park provides an access point to the Turkey Creek Streamway Trail.  A picnic shelter is available for rental.

NEW FOR 2015
In early 2015, patrons of Merriam Parks and Recreation were asked to vote for their favorite playground design for Chatlain Park.  The winner was "Climbing Oasis".  In addition, Merriam Parks, Recreation and Community Center Foundation has donated new benches for the playground area.

To make way for the new structure, demolition of the old structure and some additional concrete work is required.  The timeline for completion is:
Week of July 6 - demolition and concrete work
Week of July 27 - playground assembled
Week of August 17 - safety surfacing installed

During this timeframe, the playground will not be accessible to the public.  Other new playgrounds are located at Brown Memorial Park, Campbell Park and Vavra Park.

Below is a rendition of the new playground featuring the Palmetto Swing Saucers, O'Tannebaum Merry Go Round and the Jupiter Climbing Oasis with slide.
