Fitness Center ~

Persons age 16 and over may use the Irene B. French Community Center Fitness Center at a daily rate, or may purchase single or family memberships at a resident or non-resident rate. Youth age 13-15 may use the Fitness Center when accompanied by a person age 18 or over and completed a mandatory equipment orientation with our fitness instructor.

Health Club fees: (Effective 1/1/2012)
Family and single Health Club Memberships are available to both Merriam residents and non-residents. Memberships include unlimited use of the Fitness Center, free Open Gym Activities at scheduled times, lock and shower room privileges, fitness center equipment orientation, and free fitness evaluation by appointment with our instructor.

Combined Daily Open Gym & Health Club Fees:
Includes the use of fitness center equipment and drip-in Open Gym subject to age group scheduling. Must be 16 or over to use fitness center.

ID Card Admission Policy:
Drop-in Open gym and fitness center patrons must furnish a photo ID card with proof of residence. If no ID is available, we can provide ID cards for a $5.00 charge. Residency information must be updated annually.

Comprehensive fitness testing:
The comprehensive fitness test consists of a 3-minute step test for cardiovascular fitness, low back and hamstring flexibility, abdominal sit-up test, upper body strength, and a percent body fat testing consisting of 7 sites on the body. To schedule an appointment call (913) 322-5550. There is a $20.00 charge for non-members and $15.00 to health club members.

Equipment Orientation:
A certified fitness instructor is available by appointment to provide a free 60-minute group orientation to fitness center equipment. You may call or stop by our reception desk to schedule your orientation.

Fitness Evaluation:
This program consists of Resting Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, and Measurements. An exercise program will be prescribed based on your needs. You may schedule an appointment by calling (913) 322-5550. There is a $15.00 charge for non-members. This service is free to health club members.

Body Composition:
Rapid & easy way to learn proportion of body fat to lean body tissue. Gives you a good idea of what your percentage of body fat is and where it should be. Each 15 minute appointment is private and includes circumference measurements, body fat measurements and a short consultation. You may schedule an appointment by calling (913) 322-5550. There is a $10.00 charge for non-members. This services is free to health club members.

"Free" Health Club Membership Contest:
We would like to show our appreciation to our loyal health club members who have used our facility on a continuous basis throughout the years. Every quarter we will have a drawing from our Health Club memberships. One lucky member will receive a FREE "Single" Quarterly Membership*. The only requirements to be part of the drawing are: 1) Must be a health club member for at least two consecutive quarters, and 2) Has fun at our facility.

*Membership may be upgraded to family by paying difference.
