Over 200 hot rods,street rods, antique cars, trucks and motorcycles, will be on display at the 2008 Turkey Creek Car and Motorcycle Show on Saturday, September 13th. The event will be held at the Merriam Marketplace, 5740 Merriam Drive, from 10:00AM - 4:00PM.
Event activities includemusic by “The Candy Man,”door prizes, concessions, and demonstrations by the Kansas Highway Patrol. There will be an exhibition of “non-motorized” vehicles such as customized bicycles and model cars.Registrations are limited to 200 cars, trucks, and motorcycles, first come-first served. Theregistration fee is $20 per entry or $25 on event day if openings are still available.
Thereis no charge for spectators to visit the events. Registrants will receive a dash plaque, event T-shirt, a “goody bag,” and will be eligible for door prizes. Registered entries will be eligible for one of over fifty awards to be presented at 3:00PM. A Chevrolet V-8 crate engine will be given away as the grand prizedrawing to one lucky registered entry.
Because of the special event, the MerriamFarmers’ Market will be located at Irene B.French Community Center’s east parking lot on September 8th (7:00AM to 1:00PM) rather than at the Merriam Marketplace. Spectator parking is limited in the downtown Merriam area. Parking is suggested at the following locations: Irene B. French Community Center, 5701Merriam Drive, Merriam Christian Church, 9401Johnson Drive, or IBT Corporation, 9400 W. 55th Street. A free shuttle bus will be provided to the car show and farmers’ market from 9:45AM to 4:15PM from IBT parking lot only.
