Facility Information:
The Merriam Marketplace facility is located at 5740 Merriam Drive, in the downtown Merriam historic district. The covered marketplace has 36 vendor spaces with 110 parking spaces for visitors, and a separate restroom facility. A market supervisor is on duty every Saturday during the market season. Farmers' Market - Acceptable Sale Items:
The Farmers' Merket allows produce and handmade arts and craft vendors based on the following guidelines -
- Produce - the following produce/products may be sold: Fruits, vegetables, preserves, honey, bread products, baked goods, flowers and plants. Note: Vendors must have a valid State of Kansas Food Service License on hand & displayed when selling any cooked or baked goods not included in the expemtions list found on our application.
- Food & Drink - Concessions for consumption on premises must be approved by the Marketplace Manager.
- Arts & Crafts - Only hand-made arts and crafts may be sold.
- Imports - No produce may be imported from outside the United States and all produce is subject to all State/Federal regulations.
- The sale of animals, fresh meat/meat products, eggs, poltry and fish is prohibited.
Vendor Fees :
The Saturday season fee for 2008 is $264 per stall (average of $12 per day (less Sept. 13th) All 2007 seasonal space holders may have first option (if they qualified from 2007). Thereafter registration is on a first come first served basis.
Pro Rated rate for remaining of season vendors: Estimated at $12.00 per day per stall from vendor start date to end of season on Oct. 4th.
Daily vendor fees are $15.00 per stall in May, Sept. and Oct.4th; $30.00 per stall during the months of June, July and August. Daily vendors can secure a stall by registering the morning of the market on a first come, first served between 6:30am and 7:00am at the facility if space is available.
Free Vendor Space for Non-Profit Organizations:
We provide a free vendor space for non-profits (as defined by Kansas State Statues) each market day. Sales are limited to produce, baked goods, and homemade arts and crafts.
