Community Feedback Requested for Merriam's Waterfall and Brown Parks - The City of Merriam is seeking public input on the final drafts of master plans that are being created for Merriam’s newest park, “Waterfall Park” and the existing Brown Park. The plans have been designed by consultants from Patti Banks Associates from input obtained from citizens who attended three public meetings held in January and April and July 2006. The plans were presented at a recent work session with Merriam City Council and Merriam Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. It is anticipated that the projects, if approved by city council, would be phased in over a period of years. Merriam City Council is expected to receive the final report and consideration for approval at the October 23 city council meeting.

Plans may be viewed online by following the links above, or at Irene B. French Community Center, 5701 Merriam Drive or Merriam City Hall, 9000 W. 62nd Terrace. Comments can be emailed to Susan Hayden, Parks & Recreation Director, at shayden@merriam.org, or mailed to Susan Hayden, Merriam Parks and Recreation, 5701 Merriam Drive, Merriam, KS 66203.

“Waterfall Park” is located at 51st and Merriam Drive and includes approximately 15 acres along the West Side of Turkey Creek. Brown Park is located at 51st and Grandview.
