Merriam Parks & Recreation ~

Merriam Parks and Recreation Department Core Goals are as follows:

  • To provide and maintain facilities and programs that promote and improve the health and wellness of the citizens of Merriam.

One of our recently adopted Core Goals is to protect the environment. Our staff is committed to using sustainable practices in the management of our facilities. By working together,we can all help protect and preserve our planet for the future. With each issue of our program guide, we will be providing youwith tips to improve our environment.  Here are some summertips:

  • Need a place to recycle your home and officepaper? Bring your magazine, catalogues, newspapers and office paper to the paper recycling dumpster at Irene B. FrenchCommunity Center, 5701 Merriam Drive.
  • Shop the Merriam Farmers’ Market  for locally produced, farm fresh produce, eggs, flowers, baked good, frozen meat (Emu & Beef) honey and more.
  • Walk or bike the TurkeyCreek Streamway Trail to the market to improve your health and save gas.
  • Commit to doing Five Green Things: Visit www.bridgingthegap.org for more information.
