Each person or entity under Section 5-5 of Merriam Municipal Code is required to obtain an Alarm User's registration form from the City within thirty (30) days prior to the use of an alarm system. Alarm registrations are non-transferable and good for he period of one (1) registration year. Most home and commercial repairs and alterations require that you obtain a building permit. You may obtain a permit from the Community Development Department at City Hall, 9000 W. 62nd Terrace. To download a copy of the building permit application, click here. Please permit approximately two to four weeks (10 to 20 working days) for review for new buildings, building additions and tenant finishes. Residential burning permits may be obtained anytime at the fire station for no cost. There is a small fee for commercial customers and these permits may be obtained Monday through Friday during regular business hours. For more information on burn permissions, call (913) 322-5530. |

The City has standards for signs of all types and requires
permits be obtained prior to the installation of most signs.

The City of Merriam requires a permit prior to installation when a tent
or air supported
structure is over 900 square feet in area. Permits are $40 (as outlined in the Municipal Code Fee Schedule) and are valid for a 30-day period. Permits may be renewed for an additional fee. Tent permits may be obtained during operating hours (M-F, 8am-4:30pm) at the Merriam Fire Department, 9000 W. 62nd Terrace. |
