"Seniors Stand Out"

The Senior Arts Council of Kansas City was founded in 1977 and is dedicated to the increased understanding of the contributions that experienced adults make to the community. Membership is open to anyone fifty years of age or older and there are some 60 members in the group. The group meets once a month on the last Monday of the month at the Roeland Park Community Center. Meetings feature guest speakers that   include art experts in various fields of art. The group also puts on workshops at various times during the year. Artists in the group include oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, digital art and other art mediums. The group puts on a number of exhibits each year and have had exhibits at the Tim Murphy Art Gallery, The Endres Art Gallery, Johnson County libraries, Wyandotte County libraries, at retirement communities and other locations in the Kansas City area. The group has a goal of promoting and encouraging senior artist. Many in the group have had a lifetime experience in developing their art skills.
