The location of the IBFCC is an important asset to our community, not just because of its historical significance, but also because of its key location in downtown Merriam. The City of Merriam plans to go through a process with significant community input to identify the best use for the current site and determine how to honor its history while making it an asset for future generations as well.
Currently, the City is looking for volunteers to serve on the 5701 Merriam Drive Steering Committee. Committee members will help best identify the use for the current site of the Irene B. French Community Center.
If interested in serving on the steering committee, please fill out a board service application by Oct. 31. The application is available at City Hall or can be downloaded here. Before applying, please make sure that you’ll be available to attend meetings in the late afternoon or early evening over the next several months. The actual meeting schedule will be set once the committee convenes.
After applications are received, committee members will be appointed by the Mayor.
We will continue to update this page throughout the process.
