Dozens of Merriam residents will soon walk a safer route to their favorite locations around town as the City begins constructing sidewalks in their neighborhood.
Crews today started constructing designated sidewalk segments along 69th St. and Antioch Road, just northeast of Quail Creek Park. They will work west toward East Frontage Road with the entire project taking about two months to complete.
Merriam City Administrator Chris Engel said it’s the City’s goal to provide safe pedestrian travel in and around the community.
“The sidewalks will improve walkability to neighborhood parks, schools, and businesses,” Engel said. “We are excited to see this enhancement and are dedicated to developing and expanding Merriam’s pedestrian mobility.”
The new sidewalks are funded through the City’s Capital Improvement Program.
