Defendants wanting to get their outstanding warrants taken care of without seeing time behind bars can participate in two amnesty days at Merriam Municipal Court next month.
The Municipal Court will hold amnesty days on August 14 and 21 from 10 a.m. to noon. The judge will waive warrant fees on any active warrants and won’t call other agencies to arrest people on their warrants from other jurisdictions.
Sheila Sheridan, the court administrator for Merriam Municipal Court, said defendants can come to court on those days and pay their fines or talk to the judge and get a new court date.
“This will give defendants a chance to take care of all their warrants without fear of being arrested,” Sheridan said.
