Students from 22 high schools across the region are competing in the 22nd Annual High School Visual Arts Competition on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Tim Murphy Art Gallery. The opening night reception begins at 7 p.m. with a special musical performance by Summon the Storm KC.
More than 1,355 works of art were submitted by 864 students from 24 different high schools and home-schooled students. Students presented artwork in categories for 2D, 3D, photography, and computer-generated art. Prizes are awarded to the top three pieces in each category.

Located inside the Irene B. French Community Center, the Tim Murphy Art Gallery will house the pieces through Dec. 29.
