MCC COVID-19 Safety Measures

The health and safety of our Merriam Community Center  patrons and staff continue to be our top priority. MCC staff will go through daily health screenings and won’t come to work if they have a fever or other COVID-19 symptoms.

We encourage you to wash your hands often or use our hand-sanitizing stations throughout our facility, and make sure you're physical distancing from other patrons.

Face Masks
You’re required to wear a face mask inside the facility at all times. All staff will wear face masks.

Physical Distancing
In the fitness area, alternating pieces of equipment will be closed and floor markings have been added to meet physical distancing guidelines of at least 6 feet. Floor markings have also been added to the fitness room floor to provide 10 to 12 feet between participants. Throughout the facility, additional floor markings have been added anywhere that patrons may be required to line up.

Cleaning Protocols
MCC staff has a detailed plan to separate clean and used equipment – from the pens you use to sign any paperwork to weights, strength equipment, and cardio gear. We will frequently clean and disinfect our building and sanitize high-touch areas.

Due to the increase of coronavirus cases in the Kansas City region, Johnson County health officials on Friday issued a public health order to help control the spread of COVID-19. The order starts Monday, Nov. 16, and goes through Jan. 31, 2021.

When swim lessons and classes resume, classes will have a limited number of participants to allow for physical distancing. Masks are required on the pool deck when you’re not in the water.

Child Watch
Child Watch won't be offered until the State of Kansas enters the Phase Out stage of the Ad Astra Reopening Plan.

Rental Space
Birthday party packages and rental space won't be offered at this time. Visit for more information on future rentals.

This is our COVID-19 plan as of now, but we’ll make any necessary changes as we evaluate the community center. Please check back regularly for policy updates.
