Nestled in the Antioch Hills neighborhood, Quail Creek Park is a 5.25-acre linear park. The land was acquired by the City of Merriam with after the 1998 torrential rainstorm flooded the area. Johnson County Stormwater Management Advisory (SMAC) provided funding to purchase the land and complete improvements to mitigate flooding risks. After channel improvements and street alignment changes were completed; significant public input was sought as to how the park should be developed. Quail Creek Park developed slowly, based on this input, with its final dedication in October 2002.
