Police Officer Job Description

Overview
Performs police patrol, investigations, traffic enforcement, report writing, and other police activities. Exercise good judgment based on training and continuing education.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be 21 or older
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must have high school diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Must be in good physical condition
Must have good moral character and ethics
Must have acceptable background

Starting salary range of $55,546–$77,755

Police Academy

The Johnson County Regional Police Academy is located in Overland Park, Kansas, on the campus of Johnson County Community College. The Police Academy provides basic law enforcement training for officers from more than 30 agencies in the suburban Kansas City area. Successful completion of the 16-week academy results in certification as a Kansas law enforcement officer.
