Johnson County leaders are dedicating a flag display on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 8:03 a.m.

The memorial display of 2,977 American flags will sit on the south lawn of the Johnson County Administrative Building at 111 S. Cherry St. in downtown Olathe. Each flag represents the victims of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and the hijacked plane that crashed in a Pennsylvania field.

The brief program features music and speakers from local first responder agencies. Ed Eilert, chairman of the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners, will emcee the program.

Limited seating for the event will be available, and it’s recommended you watch the dedication via live-stream on the website jocogov.org/JohnsonCountyRemembers or the Johnson County Facebook page

You can view the flag display through Monday, Sept. 13.
