Published on November 09, 2021

Want to get more involved in your community? The City wants interested Ward 4 residents to apply for a seat on the Merriam City Council.

The Ward 4 seat was vacated after Mayor Bob Pape was elected and sworn in as our new mayor.

Ward 4 residents can file to fill the vacancy starting today. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 8.

Fill out the Statement of Qualifications online and attach a letter of interest. The City Councilmembers will interview all candidates at the Dec. 13 City Council meeting. Voting for the new councilmember will also happen at this meeting. The selected candidate will serve the remaining two years of Pape’s unexpired term.

Our City Council is made up of four wards with two members from each ward elected to represent their district. City councilmembers serve four-year, staggered terms. Meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of each month, beginning at 7 p.m.
