Don’t get a ticket! The annual Click It or Ticket statewide campaign begins Monday, May 22.

Merriam police officers will write you a ticket if they see you or any passenger in your vehicle not wearing a seatbelt.

Sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation, the goal is to reduce the number of preventable deaths and injuries involved in traffic crashes. KDOT said your risk of a fatal injury is cut in half if you’re buckled during a crash.

The two-week campaign ends Sunday, June 4.
