Trader Joe’s has officially confirmed plans to open a new store in Merriam. The store will be located at the former site of the Johnson County Library’s Antioch Branch on Shawnee Mission Parkway.
Construction is already underway, and the store is expected to open in 2026. While an exact opening date has not yet been announced, Trader Joe’s says it will share updates as progress continues.
The new Trader Joe’s will be a key feature of Merriam Grand Station Marketplace, a $102 million mixed-use redevelopment project. In addition to the popular grocery store, the development will include more than 200 apartment units, and restaurant or retail space. City leaders say the project will support housing diversity, economic growth, and revitalization in the area.
