Merriam is welcoming people of all abilities to Chatlain Park!
The City is installing a new piece of inclusive equipment, and it’s the first of its kind in the Kansas City metro area. It’s called the We-Go-Swing, and it lets people who use wheelchairs swing without having to transfer out of their wheelchairs.
Wanting kids and adults of all capabilities to play in our parks, the City Council approved purchasing the We-Go-Swing earlier this month.
Construction crews are tearing down the old swing set next week and will install new swings and the We-Go-Swing in late April. Once the safety surface is put in, the new swings should be ready for play by late spring. Stay tuned for an opening date.
