Outdoor Compost Bin Workshop

Next date: Wednesday, May 20, 2026 | 06:00 PM to 07:00 PM

Compost bin in back yard

The City of Merriam is partnering with K-State to inspire residents to enjoy the benefits of composting. Compost enriches soil, helps to retain moisture, and reduces the need for chemical fertilizers.

In this workshop, hosted by a Master Gardener, you will learn how leaves, grass and shrubbery trimmings can be turned into a valuable resource for your garden.

Compost bin workshops will be held exclusively on Zoom. No pre-registration is required, but attendance will be recorded. Participants must stay for the entire session.

Households that attend a city approved workshop and install a compost bin can receive a rebate of up to $150 for the purchase materials to construct and install the bin.

Important: While a Compost Bin Rebate application does not have to be submitted to attend the workshop, it MUST be submitted to the Community Development department BEFORE installing a compost bin.
