Did you know Antioch Library in Merriam was the first library in Johnson County? Now, it's one of many branches in the Johnson County Library District, serving the county and metropolitan area.

The Antioch Library branch will soon move next to the Merriam Community Center and become Merriam Plaza Library. The 15,000-square-foot building will have a drive-thru window for material returns and hold pickups, window reading nooks, meeting room and study spaces, interactive kids' space, skylights, and an eco-friendly green roof. It's scheduled to open in 2024.

Services at Antioch Library include:

  • Checking out a book, audiobook, movie, and more.
  • Copying, printing, scanning (fees may apply) 
  • Looking at current magazines and newspapers
  • Studying and meeting space 
  • Wifi
  • Computers

There's also a children's section with toys and organized learning programs, exhibits, classes, and free film and music programs.

All materials not available at the Antioch Library can be delivered to the site within two days, provided they are available at another library branch.

Merriam residents can get a free library card. The card is valid at all Johnson County Library branches as well as the Olathe Public Library, the Johnson County Community College Library, and the Kansas City, Missouri, Library.
