A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate 75 wonderful years of our “Just Right” city! On October 23, 2025, we created memories filled with music, games, delicious birthday cake, and a renewed sense of community pride- capturing everything we love about Merriam.

Every corner at Merriam Marketplace buzzed with laughter and joy. From exciting prizes and free ice cream to face painting, a balloon artist, a mural, a giant sandbox, friendship bracelets, music, food trucks, inflatables, story time with the Johnson County Library, painted plows, fire trucks and police cars, and so much more- it was a day packed with fun for all ages. Students from Crestview and Merriam Park Elementary schools came out to sing “Happy Birthday,” as we all enjoyed slices of cake together.

This celebration was a true reflection of our city’s vibrant spirit.

Since its founding on October 23, 1950, Merriam has grown into a lively community filled with history, scenic parks, scenic trails, and an exciting variety of restaurants, shops, and attractions.

Here’s to many more years of community, charm, and all the things that make Merriam “just right!”
