The Merriam Police Department has received multiple reports this weekend about a dangerous social media trend known as “The Door Kick Challenge.” This reckless prank encourages individuals to pound and kick on doors, mimicking a home invasion. 

Why this is dangerous:

  • Residents may believe a real threat is occurring and react in self-defense
  • It may cause costly property damage
  • It can lead to criminal charges, including vandalism and trespassing

What may seem like a joke online can quickly turn into a life-altering situation. We urge parents and teens to talk about online trends and real-world consequences. If you see suspicious activity, report it immediately.
