Merriam Police Annual Report Highlights Community Connections

Merriam Police Chief Darren McLaughlin recently released the police department’s 2022 annual report.

Breaking it down, Chief McLaughlin said last year there were:

  • 9,581 calls for service
  • 9,487 self-initiated calls
  • 496 motor vehicle crashes

Officers in 2022 also raised $13,800 for Special Olympics Kansas, attended nearly 70 community events and 18 block parties, and helped eight kids celebrate their birthdays with a police parade.
