You’re invited to attend a public hearing on Monday, June 16, as the Merriam City Council considers establishing a Community Improvement District (CID).
A CID includes an additional sales tax charged within the established district to reimburse the developer for eligible costs as established by state statue. The CID under review is for most of Merriam Grand Station and part of a new development project being considered called Merriam Grand Marketplace.
In April, Drake Development submitted plans for Merriam Grand Marketplace to the City’s Planning Commission. The marketplace would sit on the north side of Shawnee Mission Parkway between Ikea Way and Antioch Road and includes residential apartments, one or two restaurants, and a grocery store. The apartments, grocery store, Freddy’s, and Krispy Kreme aren’t part of the requested CID properties.
At the June 16 meeting, the City Council will listen to comments at the public hearing and vote to consider establishing the CID.
