The Merriam City Council voted last week to hire Shockey Consulting to create a Downtown Master Plan, kicking off an intensive community engagement phase aimed at shaping the area’s future.
Downtown Merriam is entering a pivotal planning phase as city leaders move forward with a community-driven master plan to address aging infrastructure, flood risk, and redevelopment opportunities. Shockey Consulting will gather input from residents, business and property owners, and local partners, supported by a steering committee that will help guide the process.
Community engagement will begin later this spring, with opportunities for residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to participate throughout the summer and early fall. These opportunities will include surveys, public meetings, and other ways to share ideas about the future of downtown Merriam.
Residents are encouraged to participate. The City will share survey invitations, project updates, and public meeting notices as the outreach effort unfolds. For more information or to stay connected, visit merriam.org/downtown.
