Repairs are complete following gas line break near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Antioch Road. Most of the roadway is now open to traffic; however, additional pavement repairs are needed, and drivers may see a lane drop in the affected area.
The incident began Wednesday evening when a gas line was struck at 62nd Terrace and Antioch. This prompted an emergency response from the Merriam Police Department, Overland Park Fire Department, Kansas Gas Service, and Merriam Public Works. First responders closed nearby roads as a precaution. Multiple homes and businesses were evacuated while crews worked to shut off the gas and assess the damage.
City officials confirm that the gas line repair was completed overnight, and traffic has resumed with minor restrictions.
New drone footage and photo provide a closer look at last night’s emergency response and repair efforts. The City thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
