A 2024 Community Satisfaction survey found that 65% supported exploring a citywide trash, recycling, and yard waste contract.

Since July, the City Council has explored the issue to cut residents' costs, ensure reliable services, and reduce truck traffic on city streets.

After receiving feedback from community residents through our online form and social media, along with a bid process, the City Council is considering a provider.

Top Questions and Answers

What trash company is the City Council considering?

GFL Environmental Inc. was the lowest bidder of the five bids received. It’s the same company used by many of our neighboring cities.

How much would it cost me per month, and how will I pay for it?

The charge would appear on your biannual property tax bill. We anticipate it would be around $23 per month.

How big are the trash bins?

You could choose between 65 or 95 gallons. The price will be the same.

When would my trash get picked up?

Your trash, recycling, and yard waste would get picked up weekly, all on the same day as your neighbors.

Could I opt out of this service if I’m satisfied with my current trash provider?

No. This service would be required and provided for all residents.

When would this start?

If this plan is approved by the City Council, the earliest service would begin is January 2026.
