We Need You! The City Has Three City Council and Board Openings

Get involved in your community! 

The City of Merriam wants interested residents to apply for a seat on Ward 4 of the City Council, the Planning Commission, and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

Each of these positions helps shape the future of our Just Right community!

City Council

City Councilmembers attend bimonthly meetings and represent residents and business owners from their ward. This opening is for residents from Ward 4.

Ward 4 residents must apply by 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 for a seat on the Merriam City Council.

To apply:

Candidates will be interviewed at the Oct. 28 City Council meeting, and then one person will be selected to join the City Council at this meeting.

Planning Commissioner

The Planning Commission reviews and recommends development and land use plans in Merriam. 

To join the City's Planning Commission, we need a resident who:

  • Is interested in the development and redevelopment of Merriam.
  • Wants to be a part of the City's growth and successes.
  • Has a desire to learn how the planning process works.

Merriam Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

If you're a Merriam resident who wants to improve our community, then apply for the City's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board!

Board members:

  • Give ideas on improving or starting new City events and programs. 
  • Get updates about the Merriam Community Center. 
  • Help volunteer at City events and programs. 

Board members must reside in Merriam. The term runs through Dec. 31, 2025. Apply today or download an application.
