Homes in a Merriam neighborhood

Before you leave on your family vacation, sign up for House Watch.

Merriam police officers will check on your home as often as possible throughout your stay to make sure everything looks safe and sound. If something looks suspicious, they’ll act on it and contact you.

You can request House Watch by calling the Merriam Police Department at 913-322-5560 or filling out this online form. Tell them if you’re leaving lights on while you’re gone, have vehicles parked in your driveway, or if any pets are in your home.

Tips for keeping your home safe while you’re away:

  • Put jewelry, antiques, extra cash, and personal items in a safety deposit box.
  • Have a neighbor check on your house once every day to look for fire hazards or water problems. They can call police officers if anything looks out of place.
