Planner I

The City of Merriam is seeking a Planner to perform a variety of technical, administrative and professional tasks including research and related project work. Responsibilities will include processing applications for rezoning cases and requests for conditional/special uses, Board of Zoning appeals, and sign permits. Will work under the close supervision of the Community Development Director.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or other related field.
• Some experience with technical and professional work in the area of community development, neighborhood planning and/or permit processing environment.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history and submit to yearly motor vehicle records checks.

• Must be physically capable of moving about on construction work sites and buildings under construction.
